Small Giants is representing a leading civil infrastructure construction firm in the National market who is seeing a Business Developer to develop strong relationships with clients, assist in procuring work and maintain client satisfaction, as well as maintain relationships with the political and business community. This candidate will also be responsible for the early identification and development of new project opportunities, searching out; identifying and establishing initial contact with leads and new business situations and markets.

The Business Development role will develop new sales opportunities and drive business growth by creating new contacts and identifying current and emerging market needs in the construction industry, build relationships with external parties including customers, suppliers and industry associations and work closely with other market segments to develop opportunities for growth. This position is located in Phoenix, but will be responsible for regional business development.

Summary of main responsibilities:

•     Identify new opportunities with existing and/or prospective clients or new market segments

•     Create a streamlined internal initiation, coordination and tracking system for lead management

•     Regularly communicate with existing clients to ensure the clients is satisfied with the work performed

•     Obtain critical client knowledge on proposals and potential opportunities and assist in gathering intelligence

•     Network and represent the company at social and community events

•     Be cognizant of all projects with the client and aware of all potential concerns, be proactive in identifying issues

•     Direct enrichment of relationships between all professional parties including clients and designers through meetings and special events

Skills:

The successful candidate will have the ability to effectively communicate; must be a good listener with the ability to work independently as a self-starter. Critical thinking skills, solid business development t processes, and a natural ability to adapt to a wide variety of business and social environments is a must. The candidate must have knowledge of alternative delivery and procurement methods including CM@Risk and Design Build.

Degree & Experience:

Bachelors degree required. 10+ years of experience in the public works, civil engineering/construction industry is a requirement, 5+ years minimum in a Business Development role preferred.. Public/Political contacts are greatly preferred.
